Mina Blyly-Strauss Honored at the Women With Vision Festival

Just a short shout out to Mina Blyly-Strauss, who was honored this Saturday at the Women with Vision’s Festival at the Walker Art Center.  More than 100 people were present for this screening that honored animation and film shorts by filmmakers from throughout North America.  Mina’s video “Living Histories” is a stop motion animation shot in 16mm that blends the memories of past with events of the day.  Mina presented on stage with several other prominent women filmmakers.  It was a big day and a great honor.  Congratualtions Mina!

Two In Progress Videos to be Featured at the Sin Frontera Festival in Albequerque

Two great videos from In Progress Colorado will be featured at the Sin Frontera Film Festival in Albequerque New Mexico.  This festival features some of the very best works being created by Latino filmmakers.  Congratulations to Brianna Rhodes for her video work La Historia de la Familia Perez and Yo Quiero ser Amiercano by Ricky Hermosillo.  Both are great video shorts and sure to receive positive attention at this festival.  The festival is sponosred by the University of New Mexico in Albequerque NM and will take place in late April.  For further information about the festival just CLICK HERE or you can email Kris at A special note of thanks to Terry Rigney and Aspen Film Fest for supporting these young makers.  Stay posted as Brianna and Ricky are both upcoming young filmmakers.  Brianna is pictured below while in production of her movie last summer.

Four In Progress Videos to be Honored at the Atlanta Film & Video Festival

What a year!  Congratulations to yet another set of In Progress filmmakers.  The Atlanta Film Festival just notified In Progress that the following videos will be screened at their upcoming TEEN SCREEN event April 23rd - 27th.

23 In Progress artists to be featured at the New Voices Festival!!!

Congratulations to the many In Progress filmmakers whose videos were just accepted into the New Voices Film and Video Festival.  The festival, sponsored by Augsburg College, honors young Indigenous filmmakers from all over the country and is part of a 3 month series of screenings featuring works by some of the very best work being created.  The show will take place at the Instituto de Cultura y Educacion at 4137 Bloomington Avenue in South Minneapolis on Friday and Saturday April 13 & 14.  There will be a special reception for the young filmmakers on Friday.  Videos to be honored include:

Boxers Premiere - A Sell Out Hit

Artist of the Week - Mee Thao

Artist of the Week - Carlos Beltrano

Check out our new artist of the week -Carlos Beltrano. Boxers Premiere - Saturday March 10th

Joanna Kohler will be premiereing her documentary Boxers - this coming month at the Uppercut Gym at 9:30PM as part or the Walker Art Center’s Women WIth VIsion Festival.  The doors open at 9PM and tickets will be on sale for $12.  Joanna has been a part of In Progress since its inception and has gone on to produce several outstanding video works.  For more information - go to the Boxers website at www.boxersdocumentary.com.

Artist of the Week - Nicole Auginash

Check out our new artist of the week - Nicole Auginash.  She is 18 years old and attends the Four Directions Charter School.  At the school she discovered a passion for filmmaking and photography. Each year, this small non-profit partners with urban, rural, and tribal communities to provide quality mentorships that contirbute to building the public voice of those least heard in our nation, serving more than 1,000 youth each year.
